Giant City State Park is a 4000 acre park located south of Carbondale, IL. It is part of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). The mission of IDNR is to manage, conserve and protect Illinois' natural, recreational and cultural resources, further the public's understanding and appreciation of those resources, and promote the education, science and public safety of Illinois' natural resources for present and future generations.

The Friends of Giant City State Park is a non-profit volunteer organization that supports and enhances educational and recreational opportunities by contributing to the preservation, conservation, and wise use of the natural resources at Giant City State Park.
